Wellspring

One day soon I will know
why I came
why I kept breathing
why I stayed.
Your existence
will hold me
in the light.
I will pray
as we are intertwined.
You will whisper
to my soft until
the bright passageway delivers us
to an even greater destination.
I must move away from here
to that place towards you.
I must seek you knowing
I will find you.
My goblet is empty.
I drank the pleasure
in a hurry when I was young.
If I had known you then,
would things be different than
the way they were
the way they are
the way they will be
when I meet you?
I will not run away.
I will not play hard to get.
I will be sure in that moment,
when our symbiotic energy begins to coalesce.
You will know me, know everything.
Nothing will make you look away.
You will soothe the wounds.
that hurt me so soon into this life.
I will not have to speak or write words to explain my pain.
I will not need to blame anyone
or anything, not even all the rain.
You will know me as you have known me since my origin.
I am your creation my visitant.
With you I leave the past behind.
I am ready to begin the climb.

I wanted to submit a poem for the final theme, but it is not an official entry because this poem was previously published in a chapbook. I perused several of my poems and also wrote a few new pieces, but in the end this poem felt like the last one. I so enjoyed this month of prompts that inspired beautiful creations from everyone.

Thanks so much to John A. Reyes at jarofpoetry.com and all of the warm, wild, and wonderful poets I met along the way this last month. Your words were all winners in my ;🖤 )
